How the system works: Instead of burning expensive fossil fuels such as natural gas, propane and oil, or consuming expensive hydro to heat your home, our heat pump equipment will extract the heat out of the earth, silently and very inexpensively. To do this we need a series of pipes laid in the ground either in a horizontal loop or a vertical loop. An average savings is about 50% of your heating, cooling and hot water costs. Horizontal Loops: A typical footprint required is 310’ by 20’, or 155’ by 40’, or 80’ by 80’. This horizontal loop is about 6’-7’ below the ground surface. This is the most economical route to take providing you have the lot size. Vertical Loops:A typical site would require 4 holes 225’ deep separated by 10’. This tends to be very messy in an existing home so additional equipment needs to be brought on site to minimize water sludge, and a giant vacuum is required to suck up all of the overbore materials. Depending on the site conditions the extra costs for a vertical application puts the payback at or over the current life-expectancy of the equipment.
